Gender Poll! Boy or Girl? Let us know what you think!

Adam and I are absolutely dying to know if Baby A is a girl or boy! Unfortunately we still have a few more weeks to go! We find out the gender on Monday November 12th.  But we thought we would get you all in on the anticipation so we created a baby poll game! Let us know whether you think we'll be having a little Adam or a little Jamie! To make the game a little more interesting you also get to guess Baby A's weight, height and date/time of birth! Once the little one is here we can all find out who won! But be sure to get your votes in early! After November 11th you wont be able to vote anymore!

To make this a little more fair I decided to go through some old wives tales and let you know where we stand! So good luck!

Old Wives Tale #1:  Heartburn
If a pregnant woman experiences heartburn throughout the 9 months of pregnancy, she’ll have a baby born with a full head of hair.
Answer: So far no heartburn at all... so Girl or maybe just bald?

Old Wives Tale #2:  Heart Rate
If the baby’s heart rate is above 140 bpm, it is said that the baby will be a girl.  If it is under 140 bpm, then it will be a boy.
Answer: At our last appointment, the heart rate was in the 150 bpm range, and previous appointments were even faster.  So another point towards Girl

Old Wives Tale #3:  Shape of Belly
If you are carrying high with a big, round belly, you are having a girl.  If you are carrying low with a smaller belly that sticks straight out, it’s a boy.  
Answer: Hmmm this is tricky since I just started showing. So far the bump is straight out front but it seems fairly high... I'm going to go undecided on this one!


Old Wives Tale #4:  Ring Test
Using a string, hang your wedding ring over your pregnant belly.  You are having a girl if the ring swings back and forth  and it’s a boy if it swings in a circle.   
Answer: Uh oh this is clearly going in one direction... the ring swung back and forth so one more vote Girl.

Old Wives Tale #5:  Shape of Mom’s Face
When your face gets fuller and rounder when pregnant, it means you’re going to have a girl.  If your face is long and narrow, it’s a boy. 
Answer: Hmmm I havent gained any weight in my face so far... Maybe undecided on this one but lets go with Boy. 

Old Wives Tale #6:  Key Test
This test involves a key.  If you pick up a key at the top (the roundest part), you are going to have a boy.  If you pick up the key at the bottom (smallest part), you are going to have a girl.  If you happen to grab the key in the middle, congrats, it’s twins!  
Answer: I pick it up at the roundest part... so another vote Boy

Old Wives Tale #7:  Mayan Tale
The Mayan tale adds the mothers age at conception and the year of conception.  If the result is a even number then mom is having a girl.  If the result is an odd number then a boy is on the way!  
 Answer: So 28 + 2012=  2040... Even Number, so  one more vote Girl. 

Old Wives Tale #8:  Acne
If you have acne while pregnant, it’s a girl.  It’s thought that acne during pregnancy is caused by the extra hormones.
Answer: In general my skin has been much better while pregnant. A few break outs here and there but mostly much better so I'm going with Boy on this one!

Old Wives Tale #9:  Cravings
People believe that if you are craving salty foods while pregnant, you can count on having a boy.  If you crave sweets, fruit, and orange juice, you are having a little girl.
 Answer: I honestly haven't had a lot of cravings this pregnancy but one thing I've been obsessed with is OJ and oranges... so yet another vote for Girl!


Old Wives Tale #10:  Moodiness and a Little Pecker
If you are really moody, you are having a girl since you have another extra girl hormones in you.  Your pregnancy will make you smile and be more happy if you are having a boy because there’s a little penis inside you. 
 Answer: Hahahaha I just don't know but this one really made me laugh so I had to share. I don't think I've been moody so lets go with Boy on this one!
 

Old Wives Tale #11:  Dream of Sex of Baby
If you have dreams that you are having a boy, you will have a girl.  If you dream about having a girl, it will be a boy.  Dreams show the opposite of what you are having.
Answer: I've only dreamed of the the baby twice. One time no gender and the other time the baby was a girl. So according to this another point Boy.

Old Wives Tale #12:  Clumsy vs. Graceful
If the pregnant woman is graceful throughout her pregnancy, she’s having a girl.  If she becomes clumsy, she’s having a boy. 
 Answer: Ummm I have always been clumsy and it certainly hasn't gotten better with pregnancy... last night Adam had to scold me for almost grabbing a really hot pot! So team Boy!

Old Wives Tale #13:  What Do You Think?
71% of the time, the mom-to-be knows what she is having.  
 Answer: I've always thought we were having a boy... but after all the old wives tales I'm starting to question it... But I'll stick with my original instinct and go with Boy. 

Old Wives Tale #14:  Morning Sickness
If you had a smooth pregnancy with no morning sickness, it’s a boy.  If you were sick or felt really nauseous during your pregnancy, count on a girl. 
 Answer: I've had very little nausea and not gotten sick at all (thank god!) So team Boy. 

Old Wives Tale #49:  Headaches
If you are having headaches, you might be carrying a boy. 
Answer: On the downside I have definitely had more headaches so the final point goes to Boy.

Ok so according to the Old Wives Tales we are having a boy! Final score 1 point undecided, 5 points Girl and 9 points Boy. But honestly who knows! I guess we'll have to wait and see on November 12th! What do you think?
