Operation Organization Part 1- Master Closet

So let me start off by saying that I am pretty OCD. I like my house clean, things put away, nothing on the floor, freshly vacuumed, and no dust in site. I hate clutter and I cannot go to bed with dishes in the sink... BUT, what I can't see doesn't bug me! So while our house may seem clean, secretly tucked away in closets and drawers is mayhem! And lately I have felt like the disaster in our closets, desks and dresser drawers has been begging for me to clean it! So after being inspired by other bloggers I decided to go on an organization "binge" around the house. And since I was inspired by another blogger I thought I would share my progress here in hopes of inspiring someone else!

So anyway first stop was my closet! Our master closet is fairly small so trying to get organized in here was really tricky! My first step was to purge! Go through all my clothes, shoes, purses, etc. and get rid of anything I no longer needed. This process took forever and resulted in several large garbage bags full of donation items! (Which by the way are still sitting in my guestroom waiting to be dropped off at a Goodwill or something... Oops!)

Here are a few pictures of the closet before...

Way too crowded, purses piled on top of each other, and just a big mess!

Hats piled high and more purses and junk shoved on shelves.

Way too many shoes, all piled in together.

Messy closet floor with boots, sweatshirts and laundry all mixed together.

The back of the closet door and wall behind the door. Blank useless space.

Next step was shopping! No not shopping for more clothes and shoes to replace the things I got rid of (although that would have been much more exciting!) Instead I went to Goodwill, Hobby Lobby and King Soopers in search of a few items for storage and organization. Thankfully I stopped at Goodwill first and hit the jackpot! Baskets and little canisters for organizing galore! After that all I need was a few command hooks which I found at King Soopers and I was good to go!

A few of the supplies I found to help get organized! Baskets, pen holders, little buckets, and tin canisters.

Lastly I just needed to take the time to put it all together. I added command hooks to the back of the door, the wall behind the door and on the side of the shelves. This was a great way to utilize otherwise useless space. I added a large basket to the floor of the closet to hold my boots that were too large for the shelves. And finally I stuffed my favorite Coach purses with empty grocery bags so they would stand up straight, keeping their shape, taking up less space, and serving as a bit of a decoration for the closet. Voila I had a brand new closet with more space to hang things and a much more organized feel. I love it!

Here are a few pictures of the finished product!

Command hooks on the back of the closet door holds my belt holder and command hooks on the wall hold sweatshirts and PJ's. The door still opens perfectly and leaves plenty of room in the closet.

A large $5 basket from Goodwill holds my large boots.

Command hooks on the shelves to hold my longer necklaces.

Belts hung on the back of the door. And a large pink bag hanging from the handle holds all my scarfs.

Purses stuffed with grocery bags

Nice clean top of the closet

I have a bit more work to do in here but I'm happy with the progress I've made. Check back soon to see how I tackled our laundry room, desk, and guestroom closet! In the meantime here are a few quotes since I am seriously behind on posting these!

My name is Jamie and I'm a slacker ! So instead of a well thought out blog... here is a little bit of randomness!

Ugh I have so many great blog post ideas but I keep forgetting to upload pictcures... and what is a blog post without pictures?!?! But don't worry I'm working on it. I started my reorganizing project on Sunday and I'm excited to keep it going! More on that later.

In other news Adam is leaving this Thursday for a guys golf trip, he doesn't get back until Monday. I'm so not a fan. Yes he deserves time with his boys but I'm going to miss him. And I don't want him to go. :( But I guess it will give me some time with my fav ladies and  plenty of time to work on my Operation Organization Project! And maybe I'll get caught up on all my blogging. So it'll be good... really! Once I stop pouting anyway.

Oh also Gizmo got a haircut this weekend. He looks absolutely adorable and I love how happy he is after he gets a haircut! Here is a picture of him looking all proud of his new hair-do!

See so cute! Love him!

This weekend I got to hangout in a castle! Well not a real castle but it's called a castle and it's huge! Adam and I went  to Cherokee Ranch and Castle on Saturday to celebrate a very special birthday! We had a great time and the views were stunning! Here are a few pictures of the castle. :)

They have weddings right here! Gorgeous right?!

The front of the castle

A cannon...

An amazing view!

Beautiful, the pictures don't really do it justice.

Lastly I started reading The Help yesterday! It is so good, I cant wait to find out how it all ends and see the movie! Love it!

Anyway there's a little glimpse of what I currently have going on in my life! Hope you are having a wonderful week!

And here are a few quotes just becasue I love them!

End of Summer Cleaning & Thursday Quotes

I've decided I am going to use a little of my upcoming down time for the next week or so to do some major organizing around the house! Clean out closets, drawers, the pantry, the whole house. Make files, organize, throw out old junk and just get the house completely clean... you know like spring cleaning... but in typical Jamie fashion I'm a little behind, so we'll just call it end of summer cleaning??? I dunno, moot point! Anyways, I'll be documenting the process and I'll show you all how I do! Wish me luck! In the meantime enjoy a few quotes for your Thursday afternoon!

xoxo~ Jamie

P.S. If you are wondering if I Googled the word "moot" to make sure I used it appropriately here, you would be correct.

P.P.S. Even if you have no desire to see how I've organized my house you may want to check back just to see how messy my closets currently are... yikes!

Kisses & Disses...

Because this day sucks (WTF market? Why ya gotta jump all over the place and freak people out, thus creating a very busy day for yours truly)... and I don't have much time for blogging today I thought I would do a really quick Kisses & Disses Post... So without futher ado:

Kisses:
  1. E-books! I am OBSESSED with my Nook and everything Barnes & Noble and books! So I must say how much I loveeeeeee E-books!! I'm a fan for several reasons:
    1. I LOVE that when I hear about a good book, all I have to do is pick up my Nook and buy the book, I can read it in seconds! Love it!
    2. I am a spaz! And I drop books all the time while reading, or Gizmo jumps in my lap and closes the book, or I put the book down and loose my page... ugh so frustrating! But not with E-books, No matter what happens it saves my last page, no more fumbling to find where I left off! yay!
    3. Lastly I love me some E-books because I can read almost any book, any time, anywhere! Most summers we are really slow at work. So I usually have a little free time during the day. I love that even if I didn't bring my Nook to work (or on the lightrail or camping or on vacation...) I can still read on the computer or on my phone... no more wasted time sitting in line or surfing the net, just lots and lots of reading! love!

Nook by Barnes and Noble
  1. Tigi Rockaholic Dirty Secret Dry Shampoo!!!! This stuff is SERIOUSLY a life saver! I have super blonde hair that shows grease like no bodies business... Before this amazing dry shampoo I had to wash my hair every.single.day... No matter how tired, how hungover, or how late I was I had to wash my hair or I looked like a grease ball gross! But not anymore! Although this stuff is pretty pricy I love it and cant live without it. Some days I just want to sleep in, or freshen my hair up a bit before heading out for dinner with the hubby, or I'm in a mad rush to get out the door and just dont have time to wash my hair; I love that not showering is finally an option for me! (I know how gross I sound right now but I totally don't care, I'm still clean and wear deodorant religiously ok!) Anyway just a little shout-out to Tigi because this stuff is amazing!!!

  1. So You Think You Can Dance: I'm not a huge reality tv show fan but I LOVE So You Think You Can Dance!!! I love the contestants, they are always so supportive of eachother, sweet, and not to mention they have amazing skills, incredible dancers! I love the choreographers!! They rock! And I LOVE the music they pick for the routines! After every episode I'm left smiling and ready to dance (dont laugh I am totally an awesome dancer!)This season is almost over and I'm such a dork I'm totally going to miss it!
The Final 4 Contestants this Season! Love them!!

 Disses:
  1. Waterproof Mascara: Ugh I seriously HATE waterproof mascara!!! I ran out of my usual mascara last week and was forced to use the only stuff I had left... it was waterproof that I accidentally bought a while back. It took me a few days of spider eyelashes and scrubbing my face every night to figure out what the heck was going on! After I found the culprit I once again swore to myself I would NEVER wear waterproof mascara again, because it's awful!
  2. Clowns: I honestly HATE HATE HATE Clowns!!! And I feel like they are everywhere! On TV, in magazines, being carried by a little girl in the elevator this morning (OH EM GEE soooo creepy!) Not sure why people like clowns, they are horrible and scary and I am soooo not a fan.
  3. Automated Recorded Solicitation Messages: Eeek these things drive me bonkers! Since I answer the phone for my office I usually get about one of these a day and some loud, irritating, rude recorded message says something like "DON'T HANG UP, this message is for Financial Advisers...." so I promptly hangup! Not only do I not like being yelled at but I'm not really ok with being told what to do by a recording... so if you want me to take you seriously you're just going to have to call me personally or yes I will hangup.
