Ok so I've had a few people ask what the Alexander's have been up to so I thought I would put a post together with a few of our recent escapades! And for those of you waiting for a neighbor update, sadly we have NOT talked to the guy next door... yet! Not that we are avoiding it, but they just never seem to be home when we are! But don't you worry, we'll get to it! I promise! Really!
Anyway one project we have been working on is the bathrooms in our house! When we moved in our house was a flip so it had fresh paint, carpet, and light fixtures... So thankfully this has allowed us to work on other projects throughout the house.
The downstairs bathroom was small and pretty nice, but really needed some color!! So we decided on RED! But all red would be too much, so with Adam's expert skills we now have a half red bathroom with a chair rail and I LOVE IT!
Our other bathroom project is for the master bathroom! Now we have big plans for this space but we have to take it one step at a time. So first step, our sinks are open to the bedroom, and the top of the bathroom and closet were completely open to the room, which we thought was no biggie, well wrong! The lights in these rooms light up the whole bedroom, so we decided to close this all in and save ourselves from bright shining lights when one of us is up and the other one is tucked in bed sleeping! So we (and by “we” of course I mean Adam) started closing this space up the other day. Now all we need is a little texture, edging and paint! And voila, one of us can get up in the morning while the other sleeps in! GENIUS! Once that is complete we hope to close in the bathroom entirely, add tile on the floor, a frame around the mirror, new counter tops, and fancy up the shower! But again one step at a time! :)
But this is only part of what has been keeping us busy. Those of you who know Adam (aka Hubby aka handyman extraordinaire) know that he loves doing outdoorsy things! Sadly for him he married me! And I seem to hold him back in this area! Don’t get me wrong, I love camping, fishing, small hikes etc, but I am no outdoor extremist! So we are slowly easing me into this! Sorry Adam’s friends, no week long canoe trips down raging rivers, or hiking 14ers every weekend, but I’m getting there… slowly. First step in the journey of turning Jamie into this mountain climbing, canoe … riding, outdoor extremist is drum roll please……. A CANOE!!! Ha ha yay! And thankfully Adam’s grandpa just so happened to own a canoe and was willing to sell it! So this last weekend we headed up to the mountains to pick up the “10 foot” canoe. But once we arrived we found more like a “17 foot” canoe waiting for us!!! Eek! Even better you say? Well yes, but we have a Tacoma, so it was quite the project strapping the canoe to our roof. But thanks to Adam and his uncle’s creative skills, and Adam’s kind friends giving us the necessary gear and a few handy tips, we safely got the canoe on top of the truck and down the mountain! So now we are all set to canoe down some raging rivers… ok, well, not really. But I am all for taking the canoe to Chatfield and other nice calm bodies of water until we get the hang of it! One step at a time ok!
The Canoe on the roof of our truck!
Our view out the front!
The whole family LOVES the canoe! yay!
Now if I filled you in on every little thing that has been keeping us busy I have a feeling you would be bored, so I’ll just tell you about one last thing, Rockies Games! Love of baseball runs deep in both of our families and love of the Rockies is similar to religion in our house. We watch as many games as possible. Not only at our house, but if we go out to eat the restaurant generally (ok not always) needs to have a TV so “we” can keep an eye on the score. And if all else fails thankfully “there’s an app for that” and Adam can keep track of the game on his phone. But the best way to watch a game is to actually go to the game! So we try to go to as many games as possible. Here are a few pics from our most recent game this last Saturday!
Me all ready for some baseball!
Awesome Seats!!
Yay Adam caught the Cracker Jacks during the 7th Inning Stretch!
What game is complete without mass quantities of peanuts?!?
And the best for last... They won! :)
I hope everyone is having a great week! Tonight I'm looking forward to a great night, with great people, live music on the patio at Lodo's and all for a great cause! Check back tomorrow to hear how it went!
xoxo ~Jamie
