Getting Back on Track

I know we've all been there. You come to a point in your life when everything is going really great. You're comfortable, you're busy, and you're happy... but there are soooo many things you have been putting off. I feel like I've reached that point lately. Adam and I have had a wonderful summer. It's the first summer in forever where we haven't had to be here, we haven't had to do this, and we haven't been slammed with weddings. So we've used this summer to just have fun together. This weekend we hung out with friends, walked in the Douglas County Parade, went to the Douglas County Fair, went hiking and finally tried out a new restaurant we've been wanting to go to (complete with crazy burgers and amazing milkshakes.) The weekend was awesome and everything that summer should be (we took lots of pictures and I'll be sure to do a quick post on it later.) But this weekend also reminded us of all the things we've been saying we need to accomplish and summer is quickly coming to a close (seriously how is it August already!!!??) So I've been thinking of all the things that I've been putting off and I'm making a vow to jump in head first and start checking things off the list! Yesterday at work I completed all the projects that I've had on the back burner (you know those awful projects you just don't want to do because they're well awful!) yep all done! Or at least I took the first step in completing them. So now I want to start completing things in my personal life. So here is my "Summer Bucket List." All the little things I want to do before summer kicks the bucket!

Summer Bucket List: 

  1. Get back in shape! (Ok so I know this is a long term thing but I've broken it down into two more immediate steps:)
    1. Get back in the habit of going to the gym
    2. Start creating a weekly menu of healthy meals (this will do two things: help with calorie intake and keep us from wasting money on eating out and food that goes bad because we never eat it.)
  2.  Hike more (again gets us back in shape and we had such a great time on Sunday!)
  3. Finish projects around the house. We have a laundry list of things around the house that we wanted to do. I would like to start checking this off little by little, starting with finishing closing up the top of our master bathroom.
  4. Pass the Series 63 & 65 (YUCK! I really don't want to do this, but I've been putting it off for way too long and I really need to dive in and just do it!)
I guess that's all I have for now, but all of these tasks take a lot of time and commitment so I think it's a great starting point... Wish me luck and I hope this inspires you to complete a few of those things you've been putting off!

  1. Good luck! I can't believe it's August either and I was just realizing the other day that I've hardly spent anytime outdoors all summer long. I need to get as much of that in before the snow starts falling!!!
